SH2-72
(Sharpless 72
)
Aquila which tends to be ignored by imagers with the exception of a few objects is quite rich with nice nebula. SH2-72 is such an object as it responds very well to a hydrogen-alpha filter. The nebula also has some nice structure that larger telescopes can easily define. Seen barely in the image on the lower right is a small globular cluster known as NGC 6749. However, just outside this field of view is SH2-71 which is a very nice planetary. It is so close that if I had rotated this image 90 degrees both objects would have been in the image, something to consider when going after SH2-72. The RGB came out rather faint so mixing the H-Alpha with the RGB really helps create a nice HA-RGB image
