SH2-64
(Sharpless 64
)
This object is a fine nebula in almost any size telescope. The bright red emission nebula is easy to pick up although you need to exposure a long time to pick up the rest of the area around it. There is also a bit of a reflection nebula that adds to the image very nicely, so plan on spending quite a bit of time with the color filters. The Hydrogen-Alpha filter works well on the brightest part of the nebula, but the green filter did not pick up much at all. So I am not sure if the Oxygen III filter is any good here. A wider field of view will pick up nebula around the area, but the larger telescopes are what is needed to show off the fine detail and structure
