SH2-301
(Sharpless 301
)
This nebula is a good image to capture because it is very bright, and it is also a great object for a larger telescope. The nebula has some nice structure throughout and responds very with all the narrowband filters. You still need a good amount of exposure to pick up the fainter area seen on the right side. If you don’t want to use a hydrogen-alpha filter for a color HA-RGB, then a standard clear filter will work nicely, but the H-Alpha filter will add some contrast over all. Again, creating a narrowband RGB with sulfur II, H-Alpha, and oxygen III works very well with this object.
