SH2-236 (IC 410 )

Next to the Flaming Star (Sh2-229), this is the most common image taken by imagers because it is very bright and fairly good size. Even without narrowband filters, using standard color filters produce a great LRGB color image. The nebula responds very well to Hydrogen- Alpha, Oxygen III, and Sulfur II to make a great narrowband color image. A larger telescope will pick up very fine structure and high contrast. The brightest area is best for the OIII, so larger telescopes need to center in that area. A wider field of view will allow you to capture SH2-229 (IC 405) and SH2-234 (IC 417), all three are also part of SH2-230 which covers the entire area.
